Chemistry Top Funding Priorities
From bubbling retorts to atomic force microscopy inventiveness is the chemist’s signature. As the UA Chemistry Department we seek to elucidate and educate the chemical sciences to make for a better tomorrow. In the UA Chemistry Department we touch the future, hands on.
Your gift to the UA Chemistry Department helps us perform cutting edge research and topnotch education.
To maintain our position as one of the preeminent Chemistry Department in the united States we are asking donors, alumni and friends to help us meet our goals in 3 broad areas
Faculty Research Endowment Fund
Our Goal: To grow the number of endowed chairs to retain superior faculty members to perpetuate the success and the stature of the Chemistry Department.
The Chemistry Department has an outstanding faculty. Unfortunately this also has a downside. Other institutions are aggressively seeking to recruit our best faculty. Endowed chairs help retain superior faculty members and give them a much needed form of recognition and standing.
Graduate Research Endowment Fund
Our goal: To create two fully endowed graduate fellowships of $750,000 to promote excellence in research and teaching
As a premier Chemistry Department we pride ourselves of the caliber of our graduate students. Named fellowships are powerful incentives for students to excel in their area of expertise.
Our goal: To endow $500,000 to attract the very best graduate students to encourage the best candidates to enter the field of chemical sciences.
Today competition among the top universities is fierce for the best students. To attract the best students we need to offer nationally competitive packages.
Infrastructure Improvements
Our goal: To receive as many as $75,000 to $250,000 gifts as possible to build, renovate and improve the laboratory footprint of the Chemistry Department
To attract and keep the best faculty and ensure world class research opportunities for our students the Chemistry Department must have state-of-the-art facilities. In the past decade, building renewal funding for the State of Arizona has declined dramatically, intensifying the need for private, corporate and foundation support to improve our facilities.
Our goal: To receive as many contributions as possible to strengthen the growth program of the Chemistry Department through endowment monies
For the donor who seeks to ensure continued growth in the chemistry programs a gift into the open endowment has a profound influence on the advancement of science.
