TEXTS:

The assigned textbook for this course is "Organic Chemistry" by Mary Anne Fox and James K. Whitesell. It is sold as a package including the workbook and a model set. An additional supplementary text titled "Pushing Electrons A guide for Students of Organic Chemistry is highly recommended.

EXAM SCHEDULE:

Exams: There will be five 1 hr. examinations occurring on the following dates:

Thursday February 5

Thursday February 26

Tuesday March 24

Tuesday April 14

Thursday April 30

Each of these exams is worth 100 points. The best 4 out of 5 scores will be used to determine the final grade in the course.

 

Homework: All the problems in each chapter are assigned and should be turned in for credit.

(240 points)

 

Final Exam: Monday May 11 (5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.).

The final exam is worth 200 points

 

GRADING: There are a total of 840 points possible. The course will be graded using approximately the following percentage scale:

A = 100% - 85%

B = 84% - 70%

C = 69% - 55%

D = 54% - 40%

E = 39% and below
