ACCESSING OWL (ONLINE HOMEWORK) AND D2L (ONLINE GRADEBOOK)

HOW TO ACCESS OWL:

On-Line Web-based Learning (OWL)

On-line homework will be assigned in various CHEMISTRY courses. OWL is a web-based system for collecting and grading homework. All homework for these selected courses are to be submitted using this system.

Here is what you need to know.

  1. To access the system you will need an “Access Code” (comes with book or distributed by your instructor).
  2. Access OWL from the Chemistry Department website at: http://www.chem.arizona.edu
  3. Select “Registration” under textbook title, “Organic Chemistry, 6th Edition: McMurry
  4. Choose your institution, select “The University of Arizona-Tucson, Arizona”
  5. Select “OWL Registration” the first time you login. After that, select “Student Login Page”
  6. For registration, click the small arrow next to the section for your course.
  7. You are now at the Self-Registration Form, following the instructions.

HOW TO ACCESS A D2L COURSE:

Students:

  1. You need to be registered for the course you are trying to access AND have had a valid UA NetID for at least 24 hours---that's the same ID and password that you use for UA WebMail. If you do not have or have forgotten your UA NetID and/or Password then visit the UA NetID site at: http://netid.arizona.edu
  2. Check that your browser is compatible
  3. Click on "UA NetID Login" button in the upper left corner of this page. Enter your UA NetID and Password. You will be passed to your MyHome page in D2L.
  4. In the center of the page that appears, find the blue box labeled "Academic Courses." Click on the (+) symbol to the left of the appropriate term. A list of departments will appear.
  5. Click on the (+) symbol to the left of the department in which a course is offered.
  6. Click on the name of the course. This will take you to the course home page.
