New
strategies for assembling inorganic nanostructures with biological molecules
into functional two- and three-dimensional architectures will be described.
The fundamental physical and chemical properties of these novel structures
will be discussed, and their use in the development of new ultrasensitive
and selective detection methods for DNA and RNA will be addressed. Implications
for the development of new catalysts and nanoelectronic devices will be
described.
