Emily Grumbling, who graduated Fall 2010 with a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been named a 2011-2012 American Chemical Society (ACS) Congressional Fellow. She is currently a half-time postdoc in Andrei Sanov's Research Group and half-time Lecturer of Physical Chemistry.

ACS Congressional Fellowships are extremely competitive and prestigious. The entire CBC Department is proud of this remarkable accomplishment by our recent graduate and current postdoctoral scientist and lecturer.

Emily is one of only two ACS Congressional Fellows selected this year. Sponsored by the ACS, this fellowship is part of the Science and Technology Policy Fellows program of the AAAS. The program places scientists in various Congressional offices and Executive Branch organizations with the dual goal of educating the participating scientists about policy and facilitating the responsible use of science in U.S. policymaking. Emily will most likely be working as an aide for the office of a member of Congress, although the placement of fellows will not occur until after the program orientation in September.
