Darrin Smith Named Undergraduate Research Coordinator at EKU

June, 2011

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) has selected Darrin Smith to be its Undergraduate Reserch Coordinator. He received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and served as a postdoc in the department until 2003. His most recent research focuses on the analysis of biomass samples for the development of biofuels.

EKU's Office of Undergraduate Research is a newly created office that will coordinate and promote undergraduate research. "I will emphasize all the great scholarship and creative activities currently available on EKU campuses," Smith said. "Each year, numerous dedicated faculty members have potential projects for students to actively participate and learn in their respective field. It will be exciting to make every EKU undergraduate student aware of these opportunities and increase the number of students to become engaged with faculty mentors."
