University of Arizona duo works on high-tech bomb detector in Arizona Daily Star

Building a Better Bomb Sniffer - Report on research by Bonner Denton and Roger Sperline in UANews

Bonner Denton and Roger Sperline of the Denton Research Group are recipients of a 2011 R&D Award. The winners represent a cross-section of industry, academia, private research firms, and government labs. Winning technologies are used in medical, industrial, research, consumer and manufacturing applications. Their Array Detection Technology for Mass Spectrometry (ADT-MS) was selected and given Award ID Number AI282. Drs. Denton and Sperline collaborated with personnel from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (the primary developer), Indiana University, Imagerlabs and SPECTRO Analytical Instruments GmbH to develop the technology.

The ADT-MS is an adaptation to a widely used scientific instrument which enables quick and efficient analysis of a wide variety of samples. The technology significantly updates the detection capabilities of mass spectrometers, which in turn could advance numerous areas of chemistry, biochemistry, geosciences and a variety of other disciplines.
