Jeff Pyun Receives INSIC Technical Achievement Award
For only the second time in history, INSIC's 2009 Technical Achievement Award, which recognizes the contributor(s) of a specific technical achievement in an INSIC (Information Storage Information Consortium) Research Program, for contributions judged to provide a significant advancement toward the Program's goals, was presented to two recipients for their work in separate research programs. Dr. Jeffrey Pyun, University of Arizona, was recognized for his pioneering work in the application of fundamental polymer science concepts to improving the corrosion protection and dispersion quality of nanoscale magnetic particles for the INSIC TAPE Program.
This award is quite prestigious as it is voted on by INSIC board members across all areas of microelectronics & information storage. Since the award began in 1996 there have been only three awards granted for Tape research and Dr. Pyun is the youngest PI to have earned this distinction.
