Victor Hruby Selected as Technology Innovator at the University of Arizona for 2009

Victor J. Hruby, Regents’ Professor Emeritus has been selected as the Technology Innovator at the University of Arizona for 2009.

The judging committee unanimously chose Professor Hruby and was “…tremendously impressed by your long, productive and highly innovative research career and especially by your spirit of entrepreneurship in the commercialization of your research in the area of peptide biology applications to drug discovery and in the utilization of novel analytical chemistry methods, discovered in your lab, in a wide range of applications by major pharmaceutical companies.”

The Technology Innovation Award (TIA) is given annually to a selected University of Arizona researcher in recognition of exemplary innovative achievements in translating original ideas from the laboratory to the marketplace. The award comes from the Vice President for Research, Graduate Studies & Economic Development, the Office of Economic Development, the Arizona Center for Innovation and the Office of Technology Transfer.

Professor Hruby will be honored at the Innovation Day celebration and luncheon in March.
