Fee Structure for CGF Desktop and Laptop Support Services

Desktop and Laptop support services will be charged according to the fee schedule below. All computer support requests must provide a valid departmental FRS account number. Requests which can not be charged to a departmental FRS account will be referred to outside support services.

Student/Visitor Laptop, initial registration on university network: No Charge:

Network registration, verification of system updates, antivirus and firewall.

Windows Server Domain Accounts

Every User connecting to the Chemistry.Arizona.Edu domain will be provided with:
  • A domain account

  • 3GB of server storage space

  • Ability to share documents among members of the domain and group server storage space.

  • Windows XP and Microsoft Office Suite hotfixes, critical updates and service packs managed and updated automatically.

  • Daily backup of data stored on server. Rolling, two-week data recovery period (not archival backup)

Charges for a Domain Account for all users are as follows:
  • Initial setup and license fee: $25.00

  • Annual maintenance fee: $50.00 per year per account.

Computer Hardware and Software

Initial Problem Diagnosis: No Charge:

15 minutes, verify warranty status, identify problem, suggestion solutions

Departmental Faculty and Staff Office Computer System:

Computers under Warranty:
  • $100 for initial “new” computer setup [Allowance: 1 New Computer Setup every 3 years: No Charge.] (New: new system, Tier 1 or Tier 2 brand computer such as Apple, Dell, IBM, HP, Gateway.)

  • 2 hours of free support per year per Faculty or Staff Member.

  • Support not covered by the above will be at the rate of $28.00/hr per computer (min. 0.5 hour).

Computers Out of Warranty:

• Support will be at the rate of $28.00/hr per computer (min. 0.5 hour).

Research Group, Shops, Facilities and Teaching Services Computer Systems:

Computers under Warranty:
  • $100 charge for initial “new” computer setup. (New: new system, Tier 1 or Tier 2 brand computer such as Apple, Dell, IBM, HP, Gateway.)

  • Support not covered by the above will be at the rate of $28.00/hr per computer (min. 0.5 hour).

Computers Out of Warranty:

• Support will be at the rate of $28.00/hr per computer (min. 0.5 hour).
