CGF Backup Policy Summary
SUMMARY:
The main goal is to provide backup for easier recovery
in the event of a system failure.
Backup of user and system files takes place on
type a and c CGF computers.
Backup of System files occurs on type b and d computers.
Backup of user files is the sole responsibility of the user
for type b and d computers.
CURRENT USER BACKUP METHODS:
Users may backup their own files using the DAT or ZIP drive on the
Windows95 PC in the CGF. The current method is to place an
archive of files on the department ftp server and use
a mapped drive from the Windows PC to do the backup.
Alternatively, users may map a drive from any Windows95 PC on
campus to the ftp server and copy their files to that PC or
use some other device on that pc to do their backups.
Also, the ftp server is publicly accessible via FTP from
anywhere on the internet. The
ftp server is located at ftp.chem.arizona.edu/pub. The Windows
Share name is //beer/public.
