Undergraduate
Outstanding Senior Award
Every fall and spring semester, Chemistry & Biochemistry selects a graduating senior to receive the Outstanding Graduating Senior award.
Candidates for this award excel in their studies, as evidenced by having a GPA of 3.5 or better, are involved in research, and are recognized as a leader within the campus or the larger community. The balance between these different aspects will vary, but every nominee is typically strong in all three areas.
Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award
Every fall and spring semester, the Department of Chemistry selects a graduate student to receive the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award.
Candidates for this award are TAs who are making progress toward their degrees and are in good academic standing. In general, outstanding TAs far exceed the Department's expectations on a consistent basis.
Outstanding Chemistry Undergraduate Awards
Candidates for Outstanding Upper-Classman (non-graduating Seniors and Juniors), Outstanding Second Years (Sophomores), and Outstanding First Years (Freshmen) must excel in their studies (GPA at least 3.5). They may be involved in research, and are emerging leaders within the campus or the larger community.
Students are screened based on a minimum 3.5 GPA and nominations are accepted from faculty and peers. Self nomination is accepted with a letter of recommendation from a chemistry professor and current résumé or CV.
Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award
Every fall and spring semester, the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry selects a graduating senior to receive the Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award.
ACS Undergraduate Award in Analytical Chemistry
