Stephen Budy, a graduate student in Prof. Doug Loy's research group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been awarded a 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Innovations in Fuel Cycle Research Award for his paper, "Sulfonated Polyarylene via Friedel-Crafts Reactions: Synthesis and Characterization."

UA Teams Selected for Zero Gravity Flights

Two undergraduate student teams from the University of Arizona will conduct experiments in zero gravity this week as part of NASA's Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program.
Prof. John Pollard is the team's faculty advisor. Materials for the experiment were donated by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Departments of Physics and Atmospheric Sciences.

Darrin Smith Named Undergraduate Research Coordinator at EKU

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) has selected Darrin Smith to be its Undergraduate Reserch Coordinator. He received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and served as a postdoc in the department until 2003. His most recent research focuses on the analysis of biomass samples for the development of biofuels.
