Undergraduate Chemistry Program Coordinator
The Undergraduate Coordinator serves as one of the main resources and points of contact for chemistry students. Feel free to contact Robin Rarick any time with questions or issues relating to the undergraduate chemistry program.
Here are a few of the things that are handled by the Coordinator:
- Arranging meetings or tours with faculty for prospective students (with plenty of notice, please)
- Providing freshman, transfer, and new student orientation for those new to or declaring the chemistry major or minor.
- Assisting with chemistry transfer course evaluations
- Day to day advising for the major or minor (appointments recommended)
- Assisting students with goal setting and academic plans
- Managing the Peer Mentor Program
- Managing the Lab Tour Program (each fall)
- Managing the student exchange program with the University of Nottingham
- Assisting with undergraduate research participation; processing research proposals and enrollment into courses
- Assisting with the Preceptor Program; processing applications and managing enrollment.
- Publishing the undergraduate newsletters
- Coordinating student awards and recognition programs
- Coordinating the Hach Scientific Foundation Scholarship for Chemistry Teachers
- Maintaining communication with students via the undergraduate web page & CHEMMAJORS email listserv
- Maintaining undergraduate literature, curriculum guides, and handbooks
- Coordinating the annual Undergraduate Fair and Poster Contest
- Coordinating exit interviews and conducting program assessment
- Processing degree candidacy and degree checks
- Assisting with job placement after graduation
- Maintaining contact with chemistry Alumni
